Men's Basketball Moves Into First Place
The MSJC men's basketball team picked up a key victory Wednesday night defeating visiting College of the Desert 92-88. The victory along with Antelope Valley's loss to Chaffey moved the Eagles into a first place tie with AVC a top the Foothill Conference.
The Eagles got 20 points from Tim Island, while point guard Raymond Williams added 19 to go along with 8 rebounds, 8 steals, and 5 assists. Lee Stephens and Mark Williams also reached double figures for MSJC who improved to 25-4 overall and 9-2 in Foothill games. The game was very physical as the teams combined for 61 fouls and 88 free throws. MSJC took control of the game midway through the second half building the lead to as much as 11 before the Roadrunners came back to make it close down the stretch.
The win sets up a showdown for sole possession of first place in the conference Saturday afternoon when the Eagles host Antelope Valley. Game time is 3 pm and you can hear all the action on the Eagle Radio Network at AM 1620 or on the internet at msjc.edu
