Two Former Eagles in NAIA Final Four
Two former MSJC men's basketball players have helped their teams to the NAIA Division I final four and both will be in action tonight in Kansas City, Missouri.
Mark Williams, a point guard, who was an All Foothill Conference player during the 2009-10 season for MSJC will lead Mountain State into a game against Oklahoma Baptist that tips off at 5 pm Pacific time. Williams scored 18 points in his team's 83-76 win Saturday over Georgetown (KY). In that quarter final game Williams made 4 of 6 three point baskets. Last season as a junior Williams helped Mountain State to the national championship game.
In tonight's other semi-final game in Kansas City former Eagle forward Dakota Downs will be on the floor for Concordia University (Irvine) as they take on top ranked Shorter College (GA) at 3 pm Pacific time. Downs nearly had a double double in the quarter finals on Saturday scoring 9 points and grabbing 8 rebounds as Concordia defeated LSU-Shreveport 84-65. Downs was an All Foothill Conference pick last season for MSJC helping the Eagles to the Elite Eight of the state play-offs.
Concordia is 29-7 on the season while Mountain State is 26-6. If both teams win they would meet in the national championship game on Tuesday.
