Eagle Tennis Team Finishes Regular Season 20-5; Ranked Second
The MSJC men's tennis team finished the regular season last week by defeating Victor Valley College twice and losing a tight 5-4 match to College of the Desert to finish the regular season with a record of 20-5.
The Eagles will enter the Foothill Conference Tournament April 13th and 14th in Palm Desert as the number two ranked team in Southern California. During the season MSJC has defeated #3 ranked Ventura College and the Eagles only losses in Southern California have been to top ranked College of the Desert. MSJC lost three times to the Roadrunners, twice by a 5-4 score and once 6-3. The Eagles have also competed with Fresno and Foothill College the two top ranked team's in Northern California.
Following the Foothill Conference Tournament MSJC will travel to the prestigious Ojai Tournament before taking part in the Southern California Regional Tournament begining May 3rd. The Eagles expect to be seeded second in the South which would mean two home play-off matches for the team.
The Eagles who started the season with 14 straight wins have been paced by the play of Mensford Owusu and Luis Jaimes who have played well both in singles and as a doubles combination. As a doubles team Owusu and Jaimes have only lost one match this season.
Mensford Owusu and Luis Jaimes have teamed up to win all but one of their doubles matches this season as the Eagle tennis team prepares to begin post season play at the Foothill Conference Tournament April 13 and 14th in Palm Desert.
