Eagle Tennis Team Suffers First Conference Loss
The MSJC men's tennis team fell in a close match on Wednesday to perennial powerhouse College of the Desert 6-3 to suffer their first conference loss of the season.
The Eagles, who have a record of 5-3 overall and 3-1 in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference, had won four matches in a row coming into Wednesday. MSJC fell behind 4-2 after the singles competition where they got victories from number one player Vitor Galvao and #4 player Thibaud Garces. Galvao won an exciting match that went to a third set where he pulled out an 11-9 win. Garces also had to go to a tie breaker as he eventually won in three 10-5.
In doubles Galvao teamed with Bruno Campos to pick up a victory for the Eagles, but the other two doubles matches went the Roadrunners way and the Eagles couldn't overcome their deficit.
MSJC will be back in action Thursday when they travel to San Diego Mesa to take on the Olympians in a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference match.
