Eagles Beat Riverside Advance in Regional

The MSJC men's tennis team picked up their first ever state play-off victory with a 5-3 win over the host Riverside Tigers on Tuesday.
The Eagles received a huge lift from Taylor Witt in singles when he upset the state's #1 ranked player Yair Banuelos in straight sets 7-6 and 6-1. Witt's victory helped MSJC to a 4-2 lead after the singles competition. The doubles team of Mitchell Grajeda and Carlos Marquez clinched the match for the Eagles with a 6-3, 6-2 win in doubles.
The victory propelled MSJC into the Southern California Regional semi-finals where they will take on top ranked Ventura next week. The Eagles who entered the play-offs seeded 5th in So. Cal. are in the midst of the best season in school history. Th
