Eagles Pick up Where They Left Off

The MSJC men's tennis team coming off a record breaking season started 2009 on the right foot with a 7-2 win at San Diego Mesa College on Tuesday.Emmanuel

Holding a 4-2 lead after singles competition the Eagles put the match away winning all three doubles matches. According to head coach Jesse Escatiola the momentum of the match was changed by the tough play of freshman Tyler Park. Park rallied from a set and a break down to win his singles match at #4 2-6, 6-4, 11-9.

The Eagles come into this season as the #5 ranked team in Southern California. Emmanuel Menash, who won 6-2, 6-4 Tuesday, enters the season as the #1 ranked singles player in Southern Cal. Teammate Bruno Reich comes in at #17 in singles and along with Carlos Marquez #8 in the doubles rankings.

The Eagles return to action on Thursday when they take on NCAA Division II Cal Poly Pomona at 1:30.

 

Emmanuel Mensah the #1 ranked singles player in So. Cal opened the season Tuesday by helping the Eagles to a 7-2 win over San Diego Mesa.
