Men's Tennis Team Off to 1-1 Start
The MSJC men's tennis team split their first two matches of the 2014 season as they defeated Saddleback 7-2 and lost a very tight match to Riverside 5-4.
In their season opener against Saddleback the Eagles won 5 of 6 singles matches to put the match away early. Vitor Galvao, MSJC current #1 singles player, won easily 6-0 and 6-1, while all four of the other Eagles' singles victories were also in straight sets. MSJC went on to win 2 of the 3 doubles matches for the 7-2 final.
The Eagles then lost a very tough match to Riverside 5-4 in cold conditions on the MSJC campus Tuesday. Galvao got MSJC off to a good start winning his singles match 6-4 and 6-3. Bruno Campos and Thibaud Garces also picked up straight set wins in singles for the Eagles. RCC was able to even the match at 3-3 after singles when the Tigers squeaked out a tie breaker win in the #5 match as Johan Feccmme of RCC beat MSJC's Thiago Trigo 4-6, 6-4 and 10-8. In doubles RCC was able to win 2 of the three matches for the win. The Eagles lone victory in doubles came from the pair of Leonardo Matarazzo and Garces as they prevailed 6-0 and 7-6.
