Men's Tennis Wins Ojai Tournament

The MSJC Mens Tennis team began the 2010 post season seeded #3 in the Southern California Team Regional Playoffs and hosted #6 seeded RiversidMen's Tennis at Ojaie City College at the MSJC campus this past April 13th. The Eagles won 4 of 6 singles and clinched the match at #1 doubles defeating RCC by the score of 5-2. However, once again the road to the Socal Regional Dual Team Final was cut short when the eagles fell to Ventura college in a very hard fought battle by the score of 5-3 at Ventura college on April 20th. Nevertheless, it was a great season and definetely one of the best teams if not the best mens tennis team ever at MSJC.

The Eagles had their best showing EVER at the prestigious Ojai tournament this past weekend by capturing the mens team title! Emmanuel Mensah, Gabor Toth, Richard Tetteh and Bruno Reich played some of their best tennis for the eagle program! Emmanuel Mensah entered the singles draw Emmanuel Menash and Gabor Tothwith the #2 seed and wasted no time mowing down the competition on his way to the final. Gabor Toth entered the singles draw seeded #5 and also cruised through his draw until he ran into the #1 seed from Fresno City College. Gabor fought hard but eventually fell 6-1 6-1. Mensah had his shot at the title against the same opponent in the mens final and also played with a great amount of desire and heart but it wasnt enough as he also fell in straight sets 6-2, 6-4. This story has a happy ending as Emmanuel and Gabor teamed up to form the #1 seed in the mens doubles draw and did not drop a set on their way to capturing the mens jc doubles title. It was the 1st time in eagle history that a mens team took home a title from the Ojai tournament!
