Tennis Teams Send Players on to State

The MSJC Mens and Womens Tennis Teams sent 10 players to compete at 2 locations last thursday - saturday at the Southern California Regionals for a spot in the State Championships @ Newport Racket Club this coming weekend. The Eagles fought hard and had their best results to date! Gabor Toth was the top seed in the mens draw and took home the Regional Singles Title! Amal Ben ElHadj was the top seed in the womens draw and also brought the Regional Singles Title home for MSJC!State Men's Qualifiers

 Gabor and Amal recieved automatic bids and also will be seeded #1 for the south in the upcoming State Individual Championships. Richard Tetteh had a spectacular run and played some of his best tennis as an eagle making it all the way to semi-finals and qaulifying for the singles draw at state. Bruno Reich also battled hard in his last singles tournament playing for MSJC but fell short in the qaulifying round. However, Bruno teamed up with Richard to make an incredible run in doubles, taking out the #1 seeded team from Ventura College in the quarter-finals before falling in the semi's. James Bragg, Jonathan Wicks and Tyler Park also played doubles and competed hard but were eliminated in the 1st round of competition. Nicole Lessley also played her final singles match for the eagles and lost in a tough 1st round match. Nicole teamed up Amal and mowed down the doubles competition on their way to the doubles final. The lady eagles fought hard but fell to Saddleback Colleges #1 team in a 3 set marathon. Nevertheless, Nicole and Amal will get the seeding they deserve at the state competition this weekend! Brittney Henderson also competed in singles and lost in the 1st round in her last match for MSJC. She teamed up with Julie Wright in the doubles and they also fell in the 1st round of regional competition.
