Three Eagles Qualify for State Tennis Meet

Taylor Witt (pictured below with coach Jesse Escatiola) seeded #8, became part of MSJC history when he defeated Rashad Khamis (rcc) in a straight set victory in the qualifying round of the singles regionals competition at Riverside City College this past week...he will be headed to the state individuals along with teammates Dan Nguyen-Huu and Francisco Alvarado (pictured below) whom also qualified for stat
e competition in the doubles draw...Dan and Francisco seeded #5 won a thrilling 3 set match against a very determined Cerritos doubles team. Down match point, they never gave up and battled back in a 3rd set tiebreaker to win the match. They then went on the the semi-finals, losing a very hard fought battle against the #1 doubles team in the state 6-4, 6-4 from Grossmont college. CONGRATS to these players and to the other teammates who also represented MSJC this past week at the regionals...These players will now represent MSJC at the final stage of the junior college tennis season which is the state individuals taking place May 9-10 @ The El Dorado Country Club in Long Beach City.
