Eagles Beat RCC in OT; Will Play at Home Wednesday
The MSJC men's basketball team received big performances from Dakota Downs and Darren May as they defeated Riverside Community College Friday in a Southern California Regional Quarter-final game 71-70 in overtime.
The Eagles came up with a big stop at the end of regulation to send the game into overtime tied at 60. In the overtime period the Eagles built the lead to as much as six and held on for the victory. Downs led all scorers in the game with 21, while May added 17. Downs also had a team high 11 rebounds while May added 6 assists. Eric Lawton also reached double figures in scoring with 10 for the Eagles. Andrew Fisk led the Tigers in a losing effort with 17 points and 14 rebounds.
The win improved MSJC to 21-8 on the season and advanced them to the So. California Regional semi-finals on Wednesday. The Eagles will play at home on Wednesday against Los Angeles Harbor College at 7 pm. RCC, the Orange Empire Champions, end the season at 19-11.
Tickets for Wednesday's game will $8 for adults and $5 for children. They will go on sale at the door Wednesday starting at 5:30 pm. The game can also be heard on the Eagle Radio Network at msjc.edu or locally on AM 1620.
