Two Former Eagles Set to Participate in NCAA Tourney
Two former Mt. San Jacinto men's basketball players will be taking part in the NCAA Tournament that starts today.
D'Andre Williams the Eagles starting point guard during the 2009-10 season will lead Arkansas-Little Rock into their first round game today against the University of North Carolina-Ashville. This season D'Andre played in all 35 of UARL's games and started 32 of them. For the season he averaged 6.7 points and 3.2 assists per game. While a member of the Eagles D'Andre led MSJC to a 21-9 record and was named First Team All Foothill Conference. Today's game starts at 3:30 local time.
Melvin Goins the Eagles starting point guard during the 2008-09 season will make his second straight trip to the NCAA Tournament for Tennessee. Last year the Volunteers made it to the Elite Eight. This season Melvin started all 32 of his teams games averaging 8.1 points and 2.8 assists per game, while usually defending the opponents best guard. Melvin was a first team all conference and first team all state selection for MSJC leading the Eagles to 23 wins and an appearance in the Southern California Regional Finals during his sophomore season. Tennessee's first round game is Friday against the Michigan Wolverines and starts at 9:30 am local time.
