Caldwell and Felipe Head Conference Softball Honors

Lynsie Caldwell and Angel Felipe who helped the MSJC softball team toAngel Felipe their first ever conference championship this season led the way as nine Lady Eagles and their coach were honored by the Foothill Conference this week.

Caldwell was named the Most Valuable Pitcher in the league while Felipe was named Most Valuable Player. Head Coach Gina Oliver was honored as the conference's Coach of the Year. Caldwell finished the conference season with an 11-1 pitching record doubling any other pitchers win total in the league. She also had the league's best earned run average at 0.69, in 71 innings pitched Caldwell struck out 61 hitters and allowed just 38 hits. Caldwell also hit .524 with 22 RBIs. Felipe led the conference in hitting with a .629 average. She scored 17 runs had 22 hits including 7 doubles and a home run while driving in 14 runs.

JoiniLynsie Caldwellng them on the All Foothill Conference first team were Anissa Anglin, Sam Felipe, Sammi Rodriguez, and Sahlisa Treharne. Anglin was named as a utility player, Sam Felipe at catcher, Rodriguez at third base and Treharne at shortstop. Stephanie Cardenas, Samantha Martinez, and Klarissa Flores were named second team all conference. Flores finished Foothill Conference play hitting .500 in 10 games.

The Lady Eagles will find out who and where they play in the first round of the Southern California Regionals this weekend. Play in the tournament begins on May 2nd.
