Lady Eagles Softball Wins Second Straight PCAC Game
The MSJC softball team scored the go ahead run in the top of the 7th inning on Wednesday to win their second straight Pacific Coast Athletic Conference game 7-6 over Imperial Valley.
The Lady Eagles fell behind 2-1 after two innings, but took the lead in the top of the third when Roni Alonzo drove in two runs with a single. Alonzo drove in two more runs in the top of the fifth with her second home run of the day as MSJC scored three in the inning to push their lead to 6-2 after 5 1/2 innings. The Arabs answered in the bottom of the fifth as they rallied for four runs to tie the game.
In the top of the 7th Alonzo started the inning with a walk and eventually came in to score what turned out to be the winning run on a sacrifice fly by Marissa Morales. Lauren Partnoff went the distance pitching for MSJC to pick up the victory.
With the victory MSJC improved to 10-9 on the season and 2-3 in PCAC play, IVC fell to 1-4 in conference and 5-14 overall. The Lady Eagles will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Compton for a doubleheader starting at noon.
Roni Alonzo hit 2 homeruns, drove in 5 runs, and scored three times as she helped the MSJC softball team to a 7-6 win at Imperial Valley.
