Late Rally Comes Up Just Short for MSJC Softball Team

The MSJC softball team came back late on Friday against Rio Hondo, but came up just short as they dropped a Foothill Conference contest 7-6 in Whittier.ellendeyoung.jpg

The Lady Eagles fell behind 4-0 before rallying for 2 runs in the top of the fifth and four more in the top of the sixth, but couldn't quite overcome the deficit.  Ellen DeYoung scored two runs and drove in two more to lead the MSJC offense.  Roni Alonzo added a solo homerun for the Lady Eagles while D.J. Morones, Bianca Barajas, and Jessica Woodall each drove in a run.  The loss drops MSJC to 5-16-1 overall they are 1-7 in Foothill Conference action.

Noehly Alvarez took the loss in the circle for the Lady Eagles despite giving up just 3 earned runs in six innings of work.  MSJC will be at home twice this week as they host games on both Wednesday and Friday at Wheat Field in Menifee.  Wednesday MSJC will take on Chaffey and Friday the Eagles will play Barstow.  Both games this week start at 3 pm.  Wheat Field is across from the Menifee Campus.
