MSJC Softball Drops Heartbreaker

The MSJC softball team fell one run short of picking up their first victory of the season as they lost at Rio Hondo Friday 9-8 in 8 innings.

The Lady Eagles built a 6-0 lead going into the bottom of the fourth but the Roadrunners rallied for six runs on 2 hits 3 errors and 3 walks. MSJC added 2 more runs in the top of the 5th but Rio was able to force extra innings with a run in the bottom of the 6th.

Sabrinna Herrera went 3 for 5 with an RBI for MSJC while Samantha Martinez had 2 hits including a solo home run and 2 runs scored. Jackie Nelson, Alyssa Herrera, and Chelsea Evans all collected two hits in the losing effort, Evans picked up two RBI.

The Lady Eagles are now 0-18 on the season 0-2 in Foothill Conference play. MSJC will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Victor Valley for a 3 pm game.
