MSJC Softball Drops PCAC Game to Southwestern
The MSJC softball team fell behind early in Menifee on Wednesday and could not recover as they lost to visiting Southwestern 12-2 in six innings.
The Lady Eagles fell behind 4-0 in the top of the first, but tried to battle back as they scored one in the bottom half when Marissa Morales drove in Alejandra Navarro with an RBI double. MSJC would score a lone run again in the bottom of the second when Rayna Winters drove in Jacinda Stewart with a single, but that would be all of the scoring on the day for the Lady Eagles.
Navarro and Gabby Sanchez both ended the day with two hits for MSJC as the team collected 9 in the game. The Lady Eagles also stranded 10 base runners on the day. Lauren Partnoff took the loss in the circle for MSJC to move her record to 5-5 on the season.
The Lady Eagles fell back to the .500 mark for the year at 11-11 overall and are now 2-4 in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference. Southwestern improved to 15-6 for the season and 5-1 in PCAC action. MSJC's next contest will be on Friday when they travel to Palomar for a 3 pm game. The Comets are the defending state champions.
