Offense Comes Alive as MSJC Softball Sweeps Santa Monica

The MSJC softball team pounded out 35 hits on Saturday as they swept Santa Monica in a doubleheader 14-6 and 16-5.

In the first game D.J. Morones had three hits including a homerun as she drove in 6 runs in the victory.  Vanessa Yonkers added 4 hits and 4 runs while Renee Rayls added 3 hits and 3 runs.  Paige Overfield picked up the win pitching 5 innings and allowing just one earned run.

In game two Overfield was the offensive hero driving in 6 runs and going 3 for 3 at the plate.  Morones added another 3 RBIs giving her a huge day with 9 driven in over the two games.  Ellen DeYoung also drove in three runs in the win.  MSJC had 14 extra base hits in the two victories.  Overfield also picked up her second victory of the day in the circle throwing 5 innings in game two allowing 3 earned runs.

The wins improved MSJC to 3-8 on the season.  The Lady Eagles are back in action tomorrow when they host Ventura in a doubleheader starting at 1 pm at Wheat Field.  Wheat Field is located next to the Menifee Campus.
