Softball Kicks Off New Season With Four Games

The MSJC women's softball team began the 2012 season with four games over the weekend. The Lady Eagles picked up a victory over Allan Hancock and suffered defeats to College of the Desert, Southwestern, and Golden West College.
On Friday MSJC traveled to Palm Desert where they began the season with a 7-1 loss to COD. Taryn Placencia had two hits and an RBI in the loss for the Lady Eagles. MSJC rebounded later in the day as they defeated Allan Hancock 11-4. Aleena Bahling had a big offensive game in the win with 3 hits and 4 runs driven in.;
On Saturday the Lady Eagles fell to Southwestern College 8-5. Marian Borjon had a hit, two stolen bases, a run scored and an RBI for MSJC, while Placencia, Vanessa Felipe, and Valerie Peralta each added an RBI. In the second game on Saturday MSJC lost 11-0 to Golden West. Peralta and Bahling each had a hit for the Lady Eagles.
The Lady Eagles return to action Wednesday when they travel to Monterey Park to take on East Los Angeles College at 5 pm.
