Softball Team Comes Up Short in Slugfest

The MSJC softball team pounded out 12 hits and scored 10 runs on Friday, but it wasn't enough as they fell to visiting Chaffey College 17-10 in a Foothill Conference game.

The Lady Eagles jumped out to a 9-2 lead after 3 innings, but Chaffey stormed back with 6 runs in the top of the fourth and 2 in the top of the fifth to take the lead.  The Panthers added four more in the sixth and 3 in the seventh for the win.

Five different MSJC players had at least two hits led by lead off hitter Mariah Borjon who went 3 for 3 with a walk an RBI and 3 runs scored.  Aleena Bahling added 2 hits and 3 RBIs on the day.  Tiffanye Camden, Heather Hermida, and Blaec DiMeglio also had two hits a piece for the Lady Eagles.

The loss drops MSJC to 3-9-1 overall and 2-3 in Foothill Conference play.  The Lady Eagles are back in action on Monday March 14th when they travel to Victorville to take on the Victor Valley Rams.  MSJC returns home at Wheat Field in Menifee on Wednesday the 16th to take on College of the Desert.
