Softball Team Goes 2-2 at Glendale

The MSJC softball team kicked off their season this weekend by going 2-2 at the Glendale Tournament. The Lady Eagles picked up victories over San Diego City and L.A. Pierce while dropping games to Antelpoe Valley and Glendale.

In Friday's games MSJC received great pitching from freshman Lynsie Caldwell (West Valley) as she allowed just one run in two games. In the first game Antelope Valley picked up one run in the bottom of the second inning and that would be all the scoring there was as the Marauders defeated MSJC 1-0. In the second game Caldwell delivered with a complete game 4 hit shut out as the Eagles beat San Diego City 1-0. Caitlin Heath (Hemet) scored MSJC's lone run on a double by Alex Baltas(Vista Murrieta) in the bottom of the third.

MSJC also picked up a split on Saturday as beat LA Pierce 11-2 and lost to Glendale 3-1. In the Pierce game again it was Baltos as the hitting star going 3 for 4 with 3 RBI's. Caldwell, Amber Dominguez (Calvary Christian) and Ashley Hobill (Murrieta Valley) each added 2 RBI's as the Eagles pounded out 13 hits. In the final game of the weekend Glendale scored single runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth to build a 3-0 lead before MSJC got a run in the top of the 7th. Dominguez drove in Caldwell with a double.

MSJC returns to action Tuesday Feb. 5th when they host Ventura in a doubleheader at Wheat Field in Menifee at 4 pm.
