Softball Team Wins With Walk Off Hit

The MSJC softball team built an early lead and then had to score in the bottom of the seventh to defeat visiting Santa Monica College 7-6 on Monday in Menifee.

The Lady Eagles started the game strong building a 4-0 lead after 3 innings, before the Corsairs made a comeback late in the game to tie it after the top of the seventh.  Gabby Sanchez, who had a big day for MSJC, drove in the game's winning run in the bottom of the seventh with one out.  Rayna Winters the Lady Eagles third pitcher of the day picked up the win in the circle after recording the final two outs in the 7th.

Sanchez finished her day with 3 RBIs, going 3 for 4 with two doubles.  Alejandra Navarro added two hits and stole four bases in the win for MSJC.  Winters added a solo home run for MSJC in the bottom of the third.

MSJC is now 5-4 on the season and will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to Chula Vista to take on Southwestern in a 3 pm game.  The Lady Eagles will be hosting the MSJC Round Robin this weekend at Winchester Park, games will run from 9 am to 3 pm both Saturday and Sunday in Winchester.
