The MSJC volleyball team came up against a hot serving Palomar team on Friday night and fell in straight sets to Palomar in San Marcos.
Palomar served very aggressively in the opening set and MSJC struggled with their passing and the Lady Eagles couldn't get into an offensive rhythm as they fell 25-17. The Comets kept up the attack in both the second and third sets and the Lady Eagles had a hard time getting into their system as they lost 25-12 and 25-16.
Kriston Hilkey had 11 digs on the night, while Jessica Santos added 9. Taylor Kushner, the leading scorer in the state was held to 10 kills in the match, but did also add 11 digs. "These past couple of games have been an extremely humbling experience for our team," said MSJC head coach Kevin Pratte, "The PCAC is a very good conference and we need to step up our game."
The Lady Eagles will finally have a home match on Wednesday October 9th, but the competition will remain tough as they welcome the state's fifth ranked team, San Diego Mesa to town. MSJC will also be home on Friday night when they host Southwestern. Both matches this week begin at 5 pm.
