Lady Eagles Split in Volleyball

The MSJC women's volleyball team split a pair of matches Friday night in San Diego.  The Lady Eagles defeated Southwestern 3-2 and lost a tough match to San Diego City by the same score.

MSJC traded sets in the opener with host Southwestern as they won the first 25-15 lost the second 21-25, won the third 25-21, and lost the fourth 19-25.  In the fifth and deciding set the Lady Eagles rallied to win 15-9.  Leslie Jenkins led the offense with 16 kills for MSJC while Priscilla Frias had 12 kills and 28 digs in the victory.

In the nightcap against San Diego City again the Lady Eagles went five sets, but this time came up on the losing end in the fifth 15-13.  Natalie Gonzales had 10 kills and 18 digs in the losing effort.  Scores of the first four sets were; 16-25, 28-26, 21-25, and 25-20.

The Lady Eagles who are now 1-2 on the season will be back in action on Saturday September 10th when the travel to El Cajon to take part in the Coyote Classic at Cuyamaca College.
