The MSJC volleyball team swept Cuyumaca on Friday in El Cajon to improve their record to 14-9 overall and 6-7 in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference.
The Lady Eagles pulled away from a tight set early to win the first easily 25-13. MSJC continued to use a balanced offensive attack in the second set as they won 25-15, and Kassie Ray went on a 5 point service run in the third to give the Lady Eagles a 25-22 victory.
Taylor Kushner had 19 kills in the match, Courtney Flowers had 14 digs and Alyssia Theis passed out 42 assists for MSJC in the win. "I was impressed how well we limited our errors in the first two sets," said head coach Kevin Pratte, "We struggled a little in the third, but dug deep and found a way to win."
MSJC will have their final game of the season on Wednesday night when they host Imperial Valley at 5 pm on Sophomore Night. The Lady Eagles will honor six sophomores; Ray, Flowers, Shellie Herrera, Alyssa Carillo, Rayveen Berry, and Lucy Munoz. "I encourage our fans to come to our last home match, we have some amazing sophomores we are going to highlight," said Pratte, "I am really proud to be the coach of this sophomore class."
