MSJC Volleyball Team Falls in Four at SD City

The MSJC women's volleyball team came out on the short end of a four set match on Wednesday at San Diego City as they fell 3-1.

The Knights came out of the gates strong as they cruised to a first set victory 25-11.  The Lady Eagles would find their footing in the second and behind some strong offense from Taylor Kushner and Jessica Santos went on to win the set 25-23.  The third and fourth sets were very similar as San Diego City jumped out to leads and MSJC just couldn't find their way back in losing 25-17 and 25-18 to finish the match.  "It was exciting to see Jessica step it up offensively," said MSJC coach Kevin Pratte, "Every team in our league is going to key on Taylor so our middle and outside hitters have a great opportunity to step up and score for us."

Kushner finished the night with a team high 25 kills while Santos ended the night with 16.  Alissya Theis had 45 assists in the loss.  Courtney Flowers led the defensive effort with 30 digs.  The loss drops MSJC to 8-4 overall on the season and 0-2 in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference.  The Lady Eagles return to action on Friday when they travel to Palomar for a 5 pm match.
