Volleyball Team Sweeps Cuyumaca

The MSJC volleyball team picked up a win Wednesday night in their final tune up before Foothaftonvscuyumaca.jpgill Conference play defeating visiting Cuyumaca in straight sets.

The Lady Eagles jumped out to a big lead in the first set and won handily 25-15.  MSJC kept the heat on the Coyotes in the second set winning 25-9 and finished off the sweep with a 25-12 victory in the third.

Lady Eagles setter Afton McClelland moved the ball around nicely on the night as she collected 24 assists in the match.  Natalie Gonzales had 12 kills for MSJC, while her twin sister Priscilla Frias had 7 kills and 6 aces.  Sarah Phelps led the MSJC defense with 20 digs, she also served 3 aces.  In the middle Courtney Manuel had 6 kills and 4 blocks in the win.

The Lady Eagles are now 5-3 on the season and open conference play at home Friday.  Friday's match will be against San Bernardino Valley and is set to begin at 5:30 pm.
