The MSJC women's basketball team couldn't convert a last second play at San Bernardino Valley on Saturday as they fell to the host Wolverines 69-64.
With the score 65-64 and :12 seconds remaining in the game the Lady Eagles had an opportunity to win, but Nicole Villalobos' shot wouldn't fall and the Wolverines were able to secure the rebound and put the game away at the free throw line.
MSJC had built leads of 9 in the first half and 5 in the second half, but couldn't hold off the first place Wolverines. Danielle Smith led the MSJC scoring attack with 19 points while Julia Oberst scored 10 and pulled in 13 rebounds. Nicole Villalobos also was solid with 10 points and 8 rebounds, while Brandie McCann added 9 points and 5 assists.
The loss dropped the Lady Eagles record to 18-6 on the season and 5-2 in Foothill Conference play. MSJC is back in action when they host Antelope Valley at 1 pm on Saturday January 31st.
