Lady Eagles Fast Start Keys Victory
The MSJC women's basketball team jumped out to a 19-2 lead and never looked back on Wednesday night as they defeated visiting Chaffey College 98-61.
The Lady Eagles fast start was keyed by a quick tempo and hot shooting that carried MSJC to a 54-29 half time lead. Five Lady Eagles scored in double figures led by Danielle Smith's 24 points. Danielle also collected 8 assists in the game. Tiffany Smith and Autumn Spikes both recorded double doubles as Tiffany scored 18 points while Spikes scored 16 and both pulled in 10 rebounds. Nicole Villalobos added 17 points and Autum Jenkins came off the bench to score 11. Kyna Lewis grabbed a game high 12 rebounds for the Lady Eagles.
The victory kept MSJC unbeaten in Foothill Conference play at 7-0 and improved their overall record to 18-3. Chaffey fell to 4-3 in the conference and 11-11 overall. The fourth ranked Lady Eagles will be back in action on Friday when the travel to Victorville to play Victor Valley.
