Lady Eagles Hold On for Road Win
The MSJC women's basketball team won their 20th game of the season Saturday as they held on to beat Chaffey 74-71 in Rancho Cucamonga.
The Lady Eagles held a one point halftime lead at 33-32. MSJC would build that lead to as much as 10 in the second half, but the Panthers refused to go away. Despite shooting 25 for 32 from the free throw line in the game, five of MSJC's misses at the line came in the final 1:50 of the game allowing Chaffey a chance to the very end. Jasmine Jones came up with a steal with under 5 seconds to play to seal the win for the Lady Eagles.
Terri Todecheene led the MSJC offense with 20 points, she also collected a season high 13 rebounds. Danielle Cooper added 19 points and 14 rebounds in the win while Jasmine Jones finished the day with 18 points. Point guard Danielle Reed had 7 points and 8 assists despite missing a big portion of the first half due to foul trouble.
The win improved MSJC to 20-7 on the season and 10-2 in the Foothill Conference they are still trailing San Bernardino Valley by one game in the conference race with two games to play. Chaffey fell to 16-11 and 6-6. This is the fifth straight season that the Lady Eagles have hit the 20 win mark. MSJC is back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Victor Valley for a 5:30 game.
