Lady Eagles Lose Tough One at SBVC
The MSJC women's basketball team suffered their first loss of Foothill Conference action last night as they fell to host San Bernardino Valley 73-70.
The Lady Eagles, who still have a one game lead in the conference race, lost a 13 point lead in the second half and struggled at the foul line in the loss. MSJC had a 40-36 lead at the half after a back and forth first 20 minutes.
Danielle Smith led the Lady Eagle offense with 30 points and 10 assists while Tiffany Smith added 19 points and 11 rebounds. Autumn Spikes and Kyna Lewis both pulled down 10 rebounds for MSJC. The Lady Eagles finished the night with a strong shooting performance from the field going 27 for 60 overall and 7 for 15 from the 3 point line, but only made 9 of 21 free throws.
The loss dropped the Lady Eagles to 8-1 in Foothill Conference play and 19-4 overall. MSJC holds a one game lead over both San Bernardino and Antelope Valley in the Foothill Conference standings. Last night's win improved SBVC to 19-5 overall and 7-2 in conference.
