Lady Eagles Pass Road Test at Cerro Coso

The MSJC women's basketball team fought off a sluggish start on Thursday to win a Foothill Conference game at Cerro Coso College 84-66.  The win was the seventh straight for the Lady Eagles who are now 8-2 on the season and 1-0 in conference play.

After the slow start MSJC seized the lead for good with 12 minutes to go in the first half.  The Lady Eagles pushed the lead to as much as 16 in the first half before the Coyotes battled back to pull within 8 at the half at 43-35.  In the second half the lead went back and forth between 16 and 10 most of the way with Cerro Coso hitting some big shots late in the shot clock.

MSJC shared the ball very well on the night recording 26 assists in the game, a season high by 9 over the previous mark.  Danielle Reed led the way dishing out a career high 13 to go along with scoring 11 points.  Terri Todecheene and Danielle Cooper were the recipients of many of Reed's passes as they led the way in scoring with 21 and 16 points.  Kaylee Moreno also hit double figures with 12.

The Lady Eagles who are currently ranked #11 in the state will be back in action Thursday when they travel to Lancaster to play in the Antelope Valley Holiday Tournament.  MSJC opens the tournament with the state's top ranked team Fullerton at 1 pm.
