Lady Eagles Win Again in Dramatic Fashion

The MSJC women's basketball team won for the second straight Saturday in the final seco
nds as they beat visiting Barstow 71-70 on two free throws by Kaylee Moreno with 5 seconds left.
The Lady Eagles had built a 9 point lead in the second half, but a three pointer by Barstow with 14 seconds left gave the Vikings a 1 point lead. MSJC pushed the ball down the floor and Moreno was fouled on a shot attempt with 5 seconds left setting up the winning free throws. Barstow was unable to get a final shot off.
Moreno and Danielle Cooper led the Lady Eagles offense with 18 points a piece, Cooper also grabbed 11 rebounds. Ashley Jenkins and Danielle Reed also reached double figures with 12 points a piece, Jenkins pulled down 12 rebounds and Reed added 8 assists.
The win improved MSJC to 18-7 on the season and 8-2 in the Foothill Conference. Barstow fell to 17-7 and 5-5 in league play. The Lady Eagles are back in action Wednesday night when they host Rio Hondo College. Tip-off is set for 5:30 pm.
