Lady Eagles Win OCC-SAC Tournament

The MSJC women's basketball team won three straight games over the weekend to capture the championship of the Orange Coast/Santa Ana Thanksgiving Classic.

The Lady Eagles started the tournament on Friday with a 69-53 over Santa Ana College. In the opening round game Terri Todecheene led MSJC in scoring with 17 points while Danielle Cooper scored 15 and hauled in a season high 23 rebounds.  Aishah Pullum also hit double figures with 12 points.

In Saturday's semi-final the Lady Eagles defeated LA Valley College 67-54 with Todecheene again leading the way offensively with 19 points.  Kaylee Moreno added 12 points and Cooper again had a double double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

The championship game saw the Lady Eagles defeat the tournament host Orange Coast Pirates 71-63.  MSJC started slowly on Sunday and trailed 40-30 at the half before rallying for the victory.  Todecheene had 18 points to lead the offense while Jasmine Jones added 11 and point guard Danielle Reed had 10 points and 9 assists.

For their efforts over the weekend Cooper and Reed were named to the All Tournament Team and Todecheene was named the tournament's MVP.  The three wins improve MSJC's record on the season to 4-2.

The Lady Eagles will be back in action this weekend when they host an 8 team tournament Friday through Sunday.  MSJC's first game will be against San Diego Mesa at 5 pm Friday December 3rd.
