MSJC Women's Basketball Wins 2 of 3 in Fresno
The MSJC women's basketball team won two of three games at the Fresno City College Tournament over the weekend and brought home third place.
The Lady Eagles started the tournament with a victory on Friday as they used a balanced scoring attack to defeat Porterville College 74-54. Johnette Brown led MSJC in scoring with 19 while also pulling down 9 rebounds. DeShea Wilkes followed with 12 points, Brittany Neely added 11, and Brittany Gatson had 10 in the victory. Sarai Ware passed out a team high five assists.
Saturday MSJC struggled all evening and ran into a hot Merced team who eventually won the tournament title and lost 70-45. In a dismal offensive game for the Lady Eagles Brown again led in scoring with 14 while Neely and Erin Stanford both had 8. MSJC bounced back on Sunday afternoon to win against San Jose City College 57-40. Neely this time led the way for the Lady Eagles with 14 as MSJC blew the game open midway through the second half for the victory. Neely was named to the All Tournament Team for her efforts over the three games.
The Lady Eagles are now 9-3 on the season and will be out of action until after Christmas. When MSJC returns to the floor it will be to take part in the Grossmont Holiday Tournament in El Cajon beginning December 28th. The Lady Eagles open the tournament with a 3 pm game on the 28th against Citrus.
Brittany Neely was named to the All Tournament Team at the Fresno City College Tournament where she helped the Lady Eagles to a 2-1 record over the weekend.
