MSJC Women Hold On for Conference Road Win
The MSJC women's basketball team survived a hectic last two minutes Wednesday night as they edged Barstow 69-66 in a Foothill Conference game at Barstow.
The Lady Eagles had built an eight point lead with just less than 2 minutes to play before a couple Viking 3 pointers gave Barstow a chance to send the game into overtime. Barstow cut the lead to one with 15 seconds to go, but MSJC's Jasmine Jones sank two big free throws to push the Lady Eagles lead back to three. A late desperation three pointer by Barstow was short and Danielle Reed went and got the defensive rebound as the horn sounded sealing the victory for MSJC.
Danielle Cooper led three Lady Eagles in double figures with 19 points to go along with 13 rebounds. Terri Todecheene ended the night with 15 points, while Reed scored 13 and added 5 assists. MSJC led 35-32 at the half and never trailed again.
The win improved the Lady Eagles record to 13-6 overall and 3-1 in the Foothill Conference while Barstow fell to 14-3 and 2-1. MSJC is back in action Saturday when they play at Rio Hondo, the Lady Eagles return home on Wednesday January 19th to take on Chaffey College at 5:30 pm. Saturday's game at Rio tips off at 1 pm and can be heard on the Eagle Radio Network at msjc.edu or locally at AM 1620.
