The MSJC women's basketball team lost a heartbreaking double overtime game Saturday to visiting Antelope Valley College that dropped them into a tied for second place in the Foothill Conference.
The Lady Eagles who had not lost at home this season until Saturday fell in the exciting game 87-84. The game was tied at 63 at the end of regulation and tied again at 74 a piece after one extra period, before the Marauders were able to grab the victory.
Terri Todecheene led the Lady Eagle offense with 23 points as four MSJC players reached double figures. Kaylee Moreno added 17, Danielle Cooper had 15 to go along with a team high 13 rebounds, and Ashley Jenkins added 12 points. The loss dropped MSJC to 21-8 on the season and they finished Foothill Conference play at 11-3. Antelope Valley improved to 21-9 and 11-3.
The Lady Eagles will now move into the Southern California Regional Tournament beginning Friday, when they travel to Santa Clarita to take on College of the Canyons. MSJC was originally seeded 9th in Southern California, but because of conference alignments was moved to 10th. Friday's game will start at 7 pm.
