MSJC Women Win Foothill Conference Game

The MSJC women's basketball team traveled to Ridgecrest Friday night and brought home a 61-42 victory over Cerro Coso College in their 2011-12 Foothill Conference opener.

The Lady Eagles, who will play the remainder of their conference schedule in January and February, jumped out to an early lead and built it to 32-17 by halftime.  In the second half MSJC built the lead to as much as 24 before earning the conference win.

Ashley Jenkins led the Lady Eagles with 17 points and 14 rebounds, while Tina Fantroy added 16 points, 4 assists, and 6 steals.  Justine Wills and JoAnna Hernandez both came off the bench to give MSJC a spark scoring six points a piece.

The victory improved the Lady Eagles record to 9-1 on the season and 1-0 in Foothill Conference play.  MSJC is back in action on Thursday when they travel to Lancaster to play in the Antelope Valley Holiday Tournament.  The Lady Eagles open the tournament with a 3 pm game on Thursday against Fresno City College.  MSJC is currently ranked #4 in Southern California and #11 in the state while Fresno is ranked #4 in Northern California and #8 in the state.
