MSJC Women Win Tournament at Home
The MSJC women's basketball team pushed their winning streak to six games over the weekend as they captured the title of the MSJC/Chaffey Tournament held at MSJC.
In the opening round the Lady Eagles defeated San Diego Mesa 88-41. Danielle Cooper had a game high 23 points to go along with 16 rebounds. Jasmine Jones added 15 points and Kaylee Moreno scored 13.
In Saturday's semi-final MSJC beat LA Southwest 75-61. Cooper was again the leading scorer with 21 while Terri Todecheene added 17 points and 11 rebounds. Moreno and Jones just missed double figures with 9 a piece.
MSJC won Sunday's Championship game 76-61 over Skagit Valley College out of Washington. Cooper had 18 points and 12 rebounds while Daniela Murrieta came off the bench to score 16. Ashley Jenkins added 10 points while Todecheene and Jones both had 9.
The tournament championship is the second straight for the Lady Eagles who now stand at 7-2 on the season. Cooper was named the Tournament's Most Valuable Player while Jones and Moreno both made the All Tournament team. MSJC will be back in action Thursday when they travel to Ridgecrest to take on Cerro Coso College.
