Offense Carries Lady Eagles Hoops Team to Home Win
The MSJC women's basketball team used an up tempo style on Wednesday night to run to a home victory over College of the Desert 96-60.
The Lady Eagles got off to a fast start and carried it through the first half building a 44-26 advantage at the break. Carlita Chocolate came off the bench in the first half to spark MSJC scoring 12 of her 13 points in the half. The Lady Eagles continued to build on the lead in the second half dominating the offensive glass as MSJC pulled in 32 offensive rebounds in the game.
Tina Fantroy led four Lady Eagles in double figure scoring with 22 points, she also dished out 9 assists. Destiny Melton and Kerah Natividad had double doubles on the night with Melton finishing with 17 points and 15 rebounds while Natividad went for 16 points and 13 boards. Chocolate finished the game with 13 points 3 steals and 3 assists.
The win improved the Lady Eagles overall record to 21-2 and their Foothill Conference mark to 8-1. MSJC will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Whittier to take on Rio Hondo in a 1 pm game. The Lady Eagles return home next week for home games Wednesday against Barstow and Saturday against San Bernardino Valley.
