Women's Basketball Team Wins Big at Desert
The MSJC women's basketball team used an up tempo offense and a very aggressive man to man defense on Wednesday night as they easily defeated College of the Desert in Palm Desert 90-35.
The Lady Eagles took control of the game about five minutes into the contest and built the lead to 44-17 by halftime. Tina Fantroy who led four MSJC players in double figures scored 17 of her 22 points in the first half to help the Lady Eagles build the lead. Jasmine Jones added 13 points for MSJC, while Diona Andrews and JoAnna Hernandez both came off the bench to score 11 points a piece in the victory. Faith Fantroy finished the game with 7 points and 10 assists, while Marina Villarreal just missed double figure scoring with 9 points.
The win improved the Lady Eagles record to 16-3 on the season and 3-1 in Foothill Conference play. MSJC, currently ranked #12 in the state will be back at home on Saturday when they host Chaffey College at 1 pm. Chaffey enters the game ranked #7 in the state.
