Women's Basketball Team Wins Conference Title
The MSJC women's basketball team overcame a poor shooting day in Lancaster to claim the Foothill Conference title outright beating Antelope Valley 58-52.
The Lady Eagles trailed 26-24 at the half, but rallied to take a 10 point lead midway through the second half before holding on down the stretch for the victory. Faith Fantroy led the MSJC offense on the day with 17 points including three 3 point baskets. Kerah Natividad added 13 points and 11 rebounds while Destiny Melton scored 10 points in the victory. Tina Fantroy, the leading scorer in the Foothill Conference, struggled from the field on the day, but scored 9 points and had 9 assists for MSJC including a three point basket with under 2 minutes to go to give the Lady Eagles the lead for good.
With the win the Lady Eagles concluded the regular season with a record of 26-2 overall and a conference mark of 13-1. The Foothill Conference title is the first for the Lady Eagles since 2010 and their first outright title since 2007. MSJC will find out Monday their pairings for the state play-offs.
