Women's Basketball Team Wins at Rio

The MSJC women's basketball team picked up a Foothill Conference win on Saturday despite shooting just 30% from the field as they defeated host Rio Hondo 61-46.
The Lady Eagles controlled the game by dominating the glass for 40 minutes out rebounding Rio Hondo 63-19 in the victory. Destiny Melton led the way for MSJC as she scored a career high 26 points and pulled in 13 rebounds. Cora Lopez came off the bench to record a double double as well with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Tina Fantroy was the third MSJC player in double figures with 10 points to go along with 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Kerah Natividad pulled in a game high 16 boards.
The win improved the Lady Eagles overall record to 22-2 and their Foothill Conference mark to 9-1. MSJC will play their final two regular season home games this week. Wednesday the Lady Eagles host Barstow at 5 pm and Saturday MSJC will play San Bernardino Valley at 1 pm. Entering the week San Bernardino is 10-1 in conference play a half game ahead of the Lady Eagles.
