Golfers Second After Day One of Regionals
The MSJC women's golf team shot a 328 on Monday at San Luis Rey Downs Resort & Country Club in Bonsall to hold second place after the first day of the CCCAA Southern California Regional.
Iris Chung led the Lady Eagles with a 75 Monday, the 75 was the second lowest score of the day in the 36 player field. Kristin Grimes of College of the Canyons shot the low round with a 71. Dayna Doidge helped the Lady Eagles with a 79 on day one of the competition and is currently tied for 8th in the individual portion of the tournament.
MSJC trails Irvine Valley in the team competition, the Lasers shot a 311 on Monday. The Lady Eagles do lead Foothill Conference rival Palomar by two strokes heading into the second and final round today. Cheyenne Ackerman added an 85 and Alice Hiluta shot an 89 for MSJC to help them to their second place standing. The top 2 teams at the Regional Tournament will qualify for the State Finals next week.
Vivian Shoemaker carded a 93 and Valerie Zuleta added a 97 to round out the Lady Eagle scoring. The top 12 individuals in the tournament will also advance to the State Championships.
