Hiluta Leads MSJC Golfers in Inaugural Orange Empire Match
The MSJC women's golf team began a new chapter in their history on Wednesday as they played their first match as a member of the Orange Empire Conference.
Alice Hiluta felt right at home in the new conference shooting a 73 at Santa Rosa Country Club in Palm Desert. Hiluta's 73 was the second best score of the day in a field that featured 42 players from 8 different colleges. Iris Chung also had a solid outing shooting a 77 on the day, good enough for the fifth lowest score at the event. Cheyenne Ackerman shot an 82 for the Lady Eagles while Kaylee Brackenbury carded a 105.
The Lady Eagles combined for a 337 total which landed them in 5th place for the day. Last season MSJC won the conference title for the second time in three years as a member of the Foothill Conference. The Lady Eagles will be back in action on Sunday and Monday when they travel to Ventura to take part in the South Coast Classic.
