The MSJC women's golf team rallied back to tie Palomar for first place on the last day of the Foothill Conference Finals, but lost by one stroke on the first play-off hole to finish second.
The Lady Eagles and Palomar tied with identical 25-5 records which forced the play-off, it was the first play-off needed in the past six years to determine the Foothill Conference Champion. On Wednesday MSJC shot 327 to regain a share of first place while Palomar shot 331.
The Lady Eagles did qualify for the CCCAA Southern California Regionals for the third straight season. MSJC is the only team from the conference to advance to the Regional each of the past three seasons. Additionally, five Lady Eagles, Wan Ling (Iris) Chung, Dayna Doidge, Alice Hiluta, Vivian Shoemaker, and Cheyenne Ackerman, all advanced as individuals to the Regional Tournament.
In Wednesday's match Doidge led MSJC with a 78 at Pala Mesa Resort to finish second in the 22 player field. Chung shot a 79 followed by Hiluta and Ackerman who both posted 85's. Shoemaker added a 90 and Amanda Hodgin carded a 98 to round out the scoring.
The Lady Eagles will compete in the Regional on Monday and Tuesday November 5th and 6th at San Luis Rey Downs Golf Course. The tournament is set to tee off at 9 am each day.
