The Lady Eagles took to the road for the 3rd Foothill Conference match in a row, but this time they headed toward the ocean for Long Beach City College and played a track that Tiger Woods frequented as a youth, El Dorado Park Golf Course. Although the temperatures were only slightly lower than the desert, the scores actually rose a little.
Kathryn New took 2nd place in the field of 24 with an 80. The score of 80 consisted of a pair of 40's that included 10 pars and 8 bogeys in her first trip ever to the course. New putted well in the 20-30 foot range reflecting the positive results of hours of work that she has put in practicing on the putting green over the last few weeks, but she is still waiting for the flood of birdie putts to start dropping.
Katelyn Hardy finished again with a solid 12th place in the field of 24 posting a 96 that included 6 pars, 6 bogeys, and 4 double bogeys. The significance of a 12th place finish is that at the end of the season the top 12 averages in Foothill Conference play advance to the Regionals in order to qualify for the State Tournament. Hardy's play around the greens was solid as she nearly holed out two chip shots.
Medalist honors went to Meagan Pechner of Palomar College who carded a 79. The Lady Eagles continue on the road for their fourth consecutive match of the season when they stay close to the ocean travelling to Palomar College on Wednesday, September 30, 2009. Tee time is 11:00 a.m. at San Luis Rey Downs.
