Women's Golf Stays Unbeaten in Conference
Mt. San Jacinto College, continuing to look for a return to the level of play they achieved earlier in the season, were fortunate to win Foothill Conference Match #3 hosted by Long Beach City College at El Dorado Golf Course with a 345 and move to 12-0 in the Foothill Conference (17-1 overall). Mt. San Antonio College finished in second with a 361, followed by College of the Desert, Long Beach City College, and Palomar College, on the course frequented by Tiger Woods as a youth.
Freshman Ya-Ting Yang again led MSJC with a 78, but her tournament medalist streak ended at three as College of the Desert's Krista Fenniak recorded a 76. Yang's second place finish in the 16 women field included several short missed birdie putts including a 2 footer that she lipped out on the 16th hole.
Freshman Connie Chen carded an 82 over the 5,625 yard track to finish in 4th place. Chen shot a 38 on the front nine, but had some bad luck on the back side including her ball presumably going down a squirrel hole resulting in a 2 stroke penalty.
Sophomore and Captain Katelyn Hardy's 88 placed her in 6th. Hardy continues to draw on her experience scrambling around the course as she seeks a return to the consistency off the tee that she had last year when earning Foothill All-Conference honors.
Freshman Melissa Simpson also had inconsistency off the tee shooting a 97 to finish in 11th place. Simpson's round consisted of 5 pars, 6 bogeys, 4 double bogeys, 1 triple bogey, and 2 quadruple bogeys.
