Women's Golf Team Finishes Fourth at Regionals
A strong season for the MSJC women's golf team came to an end on Tuesday as they fell 10 shots short of a spot in the state Final Four shooting a 353 on the second day of the CCCAA Southern California Regional at San Luis
The Lady Eagles finished behind Regional Champion Irvine Valley, Glendale, and Palomar, but ahead of College of the Canyons and Saddleback. MSJC who were co-champions of the Foothill Conference this season did advance Iris Chung on to the individual state finals next week at Temecula Creek Inn. Chung shot an 86 yesterday to go with her 75 from Monday to finish tied for 9th in the 36 woman field. Dayna Doidge will be an alternate for the state finals after shooting 79-88 in the Regional Tournament. Doidge's 167 total was good enough for 14th place.
Alice Hiluta concluded her freshman season with a consistent effort this week shooting a pair of 89's while sophomore captain Vivian Shoemaker shot 93-94 to finish a solid career for the Lady Eagles. Cheyenne Ackerman also finished a strong season shooting an 85 on Monday and a 90 on Tuesday to finish in 20th place at the Regional. Valerie Zulueta competing in the Regionals for a second straight season for the Lady Eagles rounded out the team's scoring with a 97 and a 94.
Chung will begin play in the State Championships on Monday November 12th at 8am.
