All Conference Soccer Team Announced; MSJC Lands Four on First Team
The MSJC women's soccer team coming off just the second play-off appearance in school history had six players honored by the PCAC North Conference when the all conference team was announced Monday.
All four Lady Eagle sophomores on the roster were honored as First Team selections. Brook Wooldridge, Alexandra Scata, Lizeth Mendez, and Anna Torres all got the nod for the first team as they helped guide MSJC to a 6-2 mark and a second place finish in the PCAC North. Wooldridge finished the season scoring 6 goals and adding 4 assists, while Mendez scored 3 goals and had 5 assists. Scata and Torres were stand out defensive players and midfielders who added to the offense as well with Scata making 3 assists and Torres scoring a goal and earning an assist on the season.
Freshman Dimitra Tsambasis was named to the second team all conference list after scoring 11 goals and dishing out 5 assists. She was joined by goal keeper Melissa Lopez on the second team. Lopez was also honored as the conference's goal keeper of the year. Lopez finished her fine season with 134 saves and a save percentage of .855. She also recorded 9 shut outs on the year. The Lady Eagles finished the season with an overall record of 12-7-2 and were eliminated from the play-offs by Santa Barbara City College last week. This season marked the second straight season that MSJC has had a winning record and reached double figures for victories in a season.
